We are currently recruiting for a temporary part-time Library Assistant on behalf of our public sector client based in Portadown. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a respected public body. Immediate start available.
📅 Working Hours (2 week rota)
Week One
Day Hours Monday Rest day Tuesday 10:00 – 17:30 (7) Wednesday 10:00 – 14:00 (4) Thursday 10:00 – 14:00 (4) Friday 13:30 – 17:30 (4) Saturday Rest day
Week Two
Day Hours Monday Rest day Tuesday 10:00 – 17:30 (7) Wednesday 15:30 – 19:00 (3.5) Thursday Rest day Friday 10:00 – 17:30 (7) Saturday 10:00 – 16:00 (5.5)
💰 Pay Rates:
1. Standard hourly rate: £13.63, Saturday rate: £20.45
📝 Key Responsibilities:
2. Assist clients with queries using both print and electronic resources
3. Register new clients and explain library services, rules, and regulations
4. Deliver services that support the learning, information, leisure, and cultural needs of the local community
5. Assist with the routine delivery of the programme of promotional activities to include school class visits, story time, user education events, special initiatives etc.
✅ Essential Criteria:
6. Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English Language and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) *Certificates will be required
7. At least 1 year’s experience providing face-to-face service to the public
8. Experience working with young children and elderly people
9. Proficient in using ICT to access, select, and use information
