Purpose of the Role
1. The successful and safe delivery of the programmed work / transit shift of Rail Grinders, Rail Milling and Tampers. Being competent to drive both types of C21 & C44 Rail Grinders and Rail Milling Machine. In addition, you would also be trained to drive other types of OTM plant.

2. Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements.
3. Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 197
4. Close Calls and safety conversations submitted as per procedure
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
5. To be able to drive all types Rail Grinders and other OTM plant when required to do so
6. Driving Licence
7. PTS
8. Fire Training
9. Emergency First Aid
10. Driver Mentor
11. Trainer / Assessor Qualification

Key Responsibilities
12. Driving and route conducting the machines safely and effectively
13. Reporting any machine defects to Grinding Supervisor and/or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
14. To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
15. Assist as required
16. To prepare and carryout safety inspections on plant before train enters service
17. Assist in maintaining quality systems, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required
18. Required undertake route learning / refreshing as and when required. Must maintain and work towards expanding route knowledge base.
19. Will be required to drive all other OTM’s such as Rail Milling Machine and Tampers
20. Required to keep all routes current via the Colas Rail route app
21. Report any issues in real time to Colas control
22. Compile detailed reports/statements to any incidents or accidents immediately
23. Must be flexible due to the nature of the operations
