We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Director to join our Valuation Advisory team in Birmingham. This P4 level position offers the opportunity to lead high‑profile retail and office valuation assignments while developing and mentoring junior team members. You will work with a diverse portfolio of lending clients including banks, building societies, and alternative lenders, providing strategic valuation advice across the retail and office sectors.
Responsibilities
* Client Leadership & Business Development
o Lead client relationships and serve as primary point of contact for key lending clients.
o Develop new business opportunities and maintain a strong market presence in the Birmingham and wider Midlands region.
o Prepare and present compelling proposals and pitches to prospective clients.
o Represent JLL at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
* Technical Excellence
o Conduct complex valuations across retail and office property types for lending purposes including acquisition finance, refinancing, and portfolio valuations.
o Prepare detailed valuation reports for a variety of lending scenarios including term loans, development finance, and workout situations.
o Ensure all work complies with RICS Red Book standards and internal quality assurance procedures.
* Team Leadership & Development
o Manage and mentor more junior colleagues.
o Oversee work allocation and ensure efficient delivery of client assignments.
o Provide technical guidance and support career development of junior colleagues.
o Contribute to recruitment and interview processes for new team members.
* Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership
o Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Birmingham and regional retail and office markets.
o Analyze market trends, rental values, yields, and comparable transactions.
o Contribute to JLL research publications and market reports.
o Provide market insights to clients and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
* MRICS qualification (or equivalent international qualification)
* Minimum 8‑10 years of commercial property valuation experience
* Substantial experience in retail and office property sectors
* Strong track record in a similar senior role within a leading consultancy
Technical Skills
* Expert knowledge of valuation methodologies and RICS standards
* Proficiency in Argus Enterprise/Developer and other industry‑standard software
* Strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities
* Excellent report writing and presentation skills
Market Knowledge
* Deep understanding of Birmingham and Midlands commercial property markets
* Strong network of contacts within the regional property community
* Knowledge of retail and office occupier markets and lending trends
* Understanding of planning and development processes
