Our inpatient CAMHS is expanding to include a brand-new purpose built 8 bed High Intensity Environment/PICU opening in 2026 in Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth. Are you a Specialist Doctor with passion and experience working within Psychiatry looking to grow your career within Children and Young people? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as a Specialist doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry based in Bournemouth.
You will work alongside the substantive Consultant / Consultant Nurse AC. The post holder will work either in Pebble Lodge, the High Intensity Environment or a combination of the two. Pebble lodge is a General Adolescent Unit (GAU) and has accreditation from RCPsych to place core and specialist trainees., The postholder will have psychiatric colleagues within community, inpatient, and specialist CAMHS (community team for children and young people with intellectual disabilities and Forensic CAMHS).
Clinical duties on the inpatient unit revolve around assessment and treatment planning for patients with complex presentations. Activities include direct face to face time, meeting families and community staff, reviewing records, clinical report writing and tribunal work, daily meeting with ward staff and CPA and discharge planning meetings. CAMHS provides services for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.
The postholder will be responsible as part of the clinical team for providing assessment, treatment and care planning for patients accepted by the team and will work under the supervision of the Consultant psychiatrists/Consultant Nurse AC.
The postholder will be expected to maintain Section 12 (2) and be an Approved Clinician.
