We're recruiting a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to drive best practice across active residential construction sites, combining monthly audits, incident investigation, and on-the-ground coaching. You'll be a trusted partner to Project and Operational teams-owning actions, improving behaviours, and embedding a positive safety culture.

Description
Lead monthly site safety inspections (and ad hoc as required) across live residential projects.
Audit against company H&S policy, CDM 2015, and industry best practice; produce clear, actionable reports.
Track and drive close-out of corrective actions with Site Managers and Project Teams.
Investigate incidents/near misses (incl. potential RIDDOR), produce root‑cause analysis, and implement lessons learned.
Provide HSE advice, coaching, mentoring, and toolbox talks to raise standards and behaviours.
Review Construction Phase Plans (CPP) when acting as Client; assure Principal Contractor compliance.
Liaise professionally with regulators (HSE, EA, local authorities) as required.
Promote behavioural safety, wellbeing, and ill‑health prevention measures.
Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes and industry best practice; support departmental projects.
Champion a positive safety ethos and ensure training needs are identified and met.
Profile
Proven Health & Safety experience in construction (ideally residential housebuilding or Principal Contractor environments).
Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, CDM 2015, and RIDDOR.
Confident conducting site audits/inspections, delivering toolbox talks, and influencing stakeholders.
Skilled in risk assessments (RA) and method statements (RAMS); clear, concise report writing.
Adept at incident response & investigation, with practical, preventative recommendations.
Relationship‑builder: credible with Site/Project Managers, subcontractors, and senior stakeholders.
Organised, detail‑driven, able to manage multiple sites/priorities.
IT literate (MS Office; safety management systems).
Full UK driving licence; comfortable with regional travel.
