Civil Engineer Estimator Year Placement - Housing
Location: Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 8GJ with National travel as required.
We are looking for an Undergraduate Civil Engineer to join our Housing Estimating Team on a one-year placement. Joining the UK largest ground engineering company, you’ll get hands-on experience within a dynamic and progressive company. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and a fantastic opportunity to begin your engineering career alongside the support offered from our vastly experience team.
Our Placement Student’s you will be given dedicated support and mentorship through a training scheme. Given an opportunity within a specialist field being exposed to the whole construction cycle, from business development through to operations on site. You’ll also have exposure to client facing operations and will be required to attend sites for solution development meetings.
What you'll be doing
* Producing tenders for a range of foundation solutions including piling and ground beams with guidance from experienced member of the team.
* Attend meetings with clients to discuss upcoming projects and the progress of current works.
* Generate preliminary and contract designs for piling and ground beam elements.
* Support of site operations, to ensure safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production and customer satisfaction.
* Implement operational quality control measures including setting out and QA processes.
* Prepare project documents for handover to contracts team.
* Develop and maintain peer relationships with key clients.
Who we're looking for
* Be studying for a degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with AutoCAD preferable.
* Flexibility to travel in the UK and hold a full, clean UK driver’s license (required).
* Attention to detail with a particular focus on presentation.
* IT competent in Microsoft packages and SharePoint.
* Valid CSCS would be beneficial.
* Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy methodical and structured approach to problem solving.
* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
