Our Catering team at Frimley Park Hospital is recruiting a Catering Assistant to assist in the provision of a highly professional and customer focused catering service to all patients, staff and visitors. You will be part of a fast paced, rewarding department and interact with a high number of people each day to make their visit as comfortable as possible.
The role can be structured as either five days a week (37.5 hours, 7.30am – 3.30pm) or four days a week (20 hours, 5.00pm – 9.00pm). Due to the nature of the role, you will adhere to departmental standards and food hygiene regulations and uphold the Trust’s values. Catering experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. A Maths and English assessment is part of the recruitment process to progress to interview. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Main duties of the job
* Prepare food service areas and equipment (e.g. placing equipment ready for use such as woks, fryers).
* Serve food and drinks in patient and staff dining outlets and on the patient meal assembly belt.
* Ensure a full supply of crockery and cutlery to the restaurant during service hours.
* Deliver and collect meal trolleys to/from wards and departments.
* Deliver catering supplies to wards and departments including call orders.
* Menu collation, pick ward food according to menu choice and record information.
Undertake Preparation Of All Foodstuffs
* Assist in food preparation (e.g. peeling vegetables, prepping salad items, traying up and labeling items).
* Assess good portion control, manage food waste and maintain appropriate record keeping.
* Decant chilled food and regenerate food with garnishing; adhere to standard recipes and production methods; check quantity, quality and appearance; maintain hygiene and temperature control per HACCP guidelines.
Operate cash registers in retail areas
* Undertake cashier duties including receipt and accounting of cash and vouchers; operate cash register to give correct change; ensure cash security and balance takings with till receipts.
* Comply with organisational procedures relating to cash handling and security.
* Replace or refund for immediate customer satisfaction, escalating to supervisor/manager as required.
