Salary: £30k - £34k + Benefits
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Design Engineer, you will assist in the development and preparation of concept, preliminary and design of a range of highway and infrastructure projects. You will be supporting team in delivering work streams and show innovative ideas for improvement in the Kier and Highways work stream.
Your day to day will include:
* Work closely with other engineering professionals and learn/apply appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for the schemes and studies
* Assisting in preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and design calculations
* Participate in answering on-going clarifications/queries as needed
* Assisting in preparation of fee estimates, design programmes, tender and contract documents. Making a positive contribution towards bids and project proposals making suggestions for new areas of work
* Take part in the development of engineering options for a proposal so that full consideration is given to safety, reliability, operational capacity modelling, maintainability, ease of construction, and environmental issues.
What are we looking for?
This role of Assistant Design Engineer is great for you if you have:
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Highways Engineering, Transportation and Transport planning
* Post-graduate experience in the UK's civil engineering / highway engineering / highway maintenance
* Experience and knowledge about highways geometry, pavement design, signs and road markings, drainage, vehicle restraint systems (including RRRAP preparation)
* UK driving licence
