Summer Placement Systems Engineering (CS3)
Join Leonardo for a nine‑week Systems Engineering Summer Placement (29th June 2026 to 28th August 2026), based at the Luton site. The role is part of the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business, operating across the UK to provide innovative support solutions to our customers and ensure front‑line capability.
Overview
This placement offers an opportunity to develop technical skills through real‑life projects, cross‑cutting activities, data exploration, and new technology initiatives. You will work alongside experienced engineers, engage with stakeholders across the engineering lifecycle, and receive coaching and support from a dedicated Early Careers Manager.
Responsibilities
* Use technical expertise to solve problems, generate ideas, and be proactive within the team.
* Apply academic knowledge to undertake activities across the engineering lifecycle, delivering on agreed performance targets, including cost and schedule.
* Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to solve problems.
* Develop practical engineering design, development, and verification skills for complex solutions.
* Complete tasks to a high standard in accordance with appropriate processes and procedures.
* Take an active role in engineering process improvement.
What You’ll Bring
* Minimum of a predicted 2 2 grade in a relevant degree discipline (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other STEM).
* Passion for engineering and a strong motivation to solve problems.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision on complex tasks.
* Big‑picture thinking and strong collaboration/inter‑personal skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience with documentation and presentations.
* Self‑motivation, prioritisation skills, and a willingness to learn.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply.
