The Role
Are you ready to rise to the occasion? We are on the hunt for an exceptional Assistant General Manager & Events Host to help lead our brand-new Liverpool location.
This is a hands-on leadership role at The Big Bakes, combining operational management with event hosting. You'll be at the heart of creating joyful, memorable baking experiences for our guests while leading and developing the on-site team across all areas - tent, bar, and kitchen.
As second-in-command to the General Manager, you'll take full responsibility in their absence, ensuring smooth operations, exceptional guest experiences, and a motivated, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
● Lead by example on shift, providing clear direction, energy, and support across the team
● Brief, train, and motivate staff to ensure smooth delivery and consistently high standards
● Support and develop Head Bakers and Team Leaders, identifying training needs and delivering hands-on coaching
● Foster a supportive, collaborative culture, including implementing incentive schemes to maintain morale
● Liaise with the central team on training, content, events, and operational improvements
Operations & Site Management
● Oversee the full site during events, managing seamless coordination between tent, bar, and kitchen
● Take responsibility for site set-up, presentation, and operational standards
● Lead event operations during your shift, ensuring smooth transitions and excellent time management
● Conduct and maintain food safety, hygiene, and health & safety checks, ensuring a 5-star standard
● Support rota planning, staffing schedules, and shift cover
● Contribute to stock management, supplier coordination, and cost control
● Help drive bar sales, upsell merchandise, and track revenue targets
● Manage venue systems (e.g. DMN Tonic, Square) and guest bookings
Guest Experience & Hosting
● Confidently host up to 40 guests with warmth, energy, and enthusiasm
● Deliver engaging demonstrations and support the creation of baking-related content
● Ensure a consistent five-star guest experience, interacting with customers professionally and handling feedback effectively
● Create a lively, welcoming atmosphere that reflects The Big Bakes' brand and values
● Support recipe development and bring new monthly bakes to life on-site
