Locum Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
The Paediatric Orthopaedic Unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary offers a full range of tertiary referral services and works closely with Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. The unit is part of the East Midlands Operational Delivery Network and leads an active clubfoot network.
The post holder will work one day per week in Northampton General Hospital providing outpatient clinics and operating, and will support the general orthopaedic team in Northampton in managing paediatric orthopaedic trauma when on site. There is a dedicated paediatric trauma list weekly with an additional paediatric orthopaedic presence on the general trauma lists three days a week.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist neuromuscular, spina bifida, transitional and clubfoot and hip scanning clinics with the MDT.
* Deal with routine children’s trauma as part of the trauma team and manage complex trauma and infection cared for by the unit.
* Support the general orthopaedic team in Northampton in the management of paediatric orthopaedic trauma when on site.
* Contribute actively to trauma and infection care and participate in the unit’s strategy and values for the next seven years.
Qualifications & Experience
* Consultant level paediatric orthopaedic surgery, ideally with subspecialty interest in neuromuscular and DDH.
* Experience working in a teaching hospital environment and with the national Paediatric Orthopaedic Specialist Clinical Network.
* Strong clinical and surgical skill set and a proactive approach to patient care and teamwork.
Contract
12‑month locum post covering an exceptional leave, with one day per week in Northampton General Hospital. The post is active and not expired.
