St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response, Falls response, Night Time Economy and Homelessness outreach) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). Job Summary
The postholder is responsible for leading the development of high-quality software and managing and supporting our technology platforms and systems as part of the DevOps team. Working within multifunctional DevOps Squads they will develop scalable solutions adhering to best practice design principles and coding standards and ensure exceptional service and solution delivery.
With exposure across the full development lifecycle, they work on a variety of projects and programmes. They provide technical leadership and line management to support the DevOps Engineers across the team.
The post-holder works to challenging deadlines; leveraging and utilising existing and new technology platforms to their fullest; keep up to date with external legislative requirements; and ensuring minimum interruption to all services at all times.
About You
To be successful in this role, education to Degree in computing or related subject; or equivalent relevant commercial experience, ITIL Foundation certified or equivalent experience working with ITIL in a commercial setting, experience in working to a DevOps Methodology, experience in code review, optimization, branching and release lifecycle & Excellent depth of technical skills, and able to apply SOLID principles when designing new solutions.
About the Role
7. Working closely with the Head of DevOps to Lead and line manage the DevOps Engineers
8. Work to a DevOps methodology within assigned squads under the direction of the Product Owner
9. Provide technical design input and leadership for new solutions or changes to existing systems
10. Lead technical development on key projects, working alongside existing team members and providing coaching and support where require
11. Contribute towards the Technical Solution design where appropriate, to include security, platforms and technical stacks, ensuring alignment with the overall technical strategy, business operations and associated processes
