Teaching Assistant – Special School – Solihull
A welcoming special school in Solihull is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team, working with children who have a range of special educational needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide both 1-2-1 and small group support. Pupils have a range of needs including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and complex needs, and you will play a key role in helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop important social and life skills. The school offers excellent facilities and a nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with special educational needs on a 1-2-1 and small group basis.
Assisting the class teacher with delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
Helping pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Promoting independence and confidence in learning and daily activities.
Supporting with personal care needs where required.
Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.The ideal candidate will have:
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or at least 3 months of experience in a special school.
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
Patience, resilience, and strong communication skills.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
