About the Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll be working with pupils aged 14-16 who experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You'll provide essential support both in and outside the classroom, helping to create a calm, positive, and structured learning environment. The SEMH Teaching Assistant will play a key part in guiding students to reach their potential academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a full-time position, five days per week, offering the chance to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who need consistency, patience, and encouragement. Responsibilities Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning. Use proactive and restorative behaviour management strategies to promote a safe, positive learning environment. Provide targeted one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs. Encourage positive relationships, self-regulation, and emotional growth. Collaborate closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents. Contribute to the inclusive and supportive ethos of the school.The Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant Will Have Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role.
