Production Technician – Manufacturing
We are seeking a Production Technician with Manufacturing experience. This role will report to the Head of Operations and is responsible for the assembly & testing of electronic and mechanical assemblies in the manufacture of small wind turbines.
Core Responsibilities
* Assembly of electrical and mechanical components into finished assemblies to a high standard
* Final testing of assemblies and thorough completion of inspection documentation as required
* Packing of finished goods ready for despatch
* Kitting and sorting of components ready for manufacture
* Performing production tasks in other areas of the business (Electrical, Mechanical or Composites) as required
* Work in compliance with the company’s Quality Management System
* Stock management within the production department
* Keep the workshop clean and tidy and in a state suitable for visitors
* Completion of quality documentation alongside manufacturing in line with the company’s quality management system
Location
Q-Park, Bath Road, South Woodchester, Nr Stroud, GL5 5HT (commutable to alternative sites within reasonable distance)
Working Hours
40 hours per week on a banked hours system. Standard hours are Monday to Thursday 06:30‑16:30 (38 hours). Two weeks are banked for later use.
About You – Essential Skills
* Experience in a production/manufacturing environment (preferably electrical and mechanical assembly experience)
* Good hands‑on tool skills and general manufacturing ability
* Understanding of Health & Safety in a factory/production environment
* Experience in cable preparation, including crimping
* Experience in soldering (preferred but training will be provided)
* Understanding of the dangers of electricity and how to work safely where live voltages are present (preferred but training will be provided)
* Experience using a bearing press (preferred but training will be provided)
* Good fault‑finding skills and ability to repair and refurbish assemblies as required
* Ability to work on own initiative, identifying problems and finding solutions
* Ability to follow agreed operating procedures and complete documentation as required
* Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality
* A quick learner and positive attitude towards learning new skills
* Adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Good communication skills, written and verbal English, record keeping and basic IT skills
* Flexible and willing to help in various roles across the factory if required
* Ability to work to drawings and standard operating procedures or learn quickly
