The Walter Arms is a vibrant, historic pub known for our freshly prepared, seasonal dishes and welcoming atmosphere. We are now looking for a talented and ambitious Sous Chef to join our kitchen team – with the exciting opportunity to step up into the Head Chef role.

As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in running the kitchen day-to-day, supporting and inspiring the team, ensuring consistency in quality, and helping us deliver memorable dining experiences for our guests. You'll have the freedom to contribute your own ideas, push boundaries with flavours, and take real ownership of the food offering as we continue to grow.

Responsibilities
* Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and managing staff.
* Supervise food preparation and cooking to ensure consistency and quality.
* Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative menu items that reflect current trends and customer preferences.
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
* Monitor inventory levels, assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
* Ensure all dishes are prepared to specification and served promptly.
* Participate in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for seasonal offerings.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
* Strong supervisory skills with experience in team management.
* In-depth knowledge of food production techniques and culinary practices.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
* Excellent cooking skills with a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
* Previous experience in hospitality is highly desirable.
* Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
