Working environment and culture
We pride ourselves on care for patients and a fair, inclusive environment for staff where progression is supported. The Dorset Sleep Service opened in Autumn 2023 and is expanding to cover more patients across the county. The team includes Administrators, Sleep Practitioners at Associate, Practitioner, and Senior levels, a Head of Department, overseen by a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. The service is mostly office hours, with potential early starts/late ends and some weekends to support Flexible Working in the future (no night shifts planned yet). The department is based at Vespasian House in Dorchester and will move to two new sites from July 2025: Weymouth and a temporary site in Ringwood, with permanent premises in Bournemouth or Poole still to be confirmed.
We are committed to training and developing staff to advance their careers within the Sleep Service, valuing collaboration, continual improvement, innovation, and new approaches to problem solving. We strive for a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone—colleagues and patients alike—are treated with respect and consideration.
