We are working with a well-established business in Stockton-on-Tees who are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant to join their busy finance team. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of accounts payable processes, support month-end reporting, and help manage supplier relationships in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitoring and processing invoices efficiently
2. Creating new supplier records and handling purchase order and non-purchase order invoices
3. Checking invoices against purchase orders and goods received notes, raising queries as needed
4. Acting as the main contact for supplier enquiries and resolving discrepancies
5. Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining strong relationships
6. Processing supplier payments and preparing payment runs
7. Handling employee expenses and company credit card statements
8. Producing reports to flag invoice issues and filing supplier invoices
9. Preparing month-end accruals and supporting the Management Accountant
10. Working efficiently to meet deadlines and following company procedures
11. Supporting health, safety, environmental, and quality systems
What We’re Looking For:
12. Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounts payable or similar finance role
13. Strong knowledge of accounting software and financial processes
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
15. Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and maintain attention to detail
16. Experience using Sage Line 50 Accounts (desirable)
17. Previous experience with InspHire or similar systems (desirable)
Benefits & Working Arrangements:
18. Salary: £28,000 – £30,000
19. Working hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break (42.5 hours per week)
20. 25 days holiday + bank holidays
