Overview
Software Engineer III - Python - Senior Associate at JPMorgan Chase (via hackajob). This role is part of the EDG Front-Office Tech stream and involves delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way. You will work within an agile team to design and implement software solutions across multiple technical areas in support of the firm’s business objectives, collaborating closely with the trading desk, technology teams, and Quantitative Research.
Responsibilities
* Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or solve complex problems.
* Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run in coordination with appropriate systems.
* Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensures design constraints are met by software development.
* Gathers and analyzes data, develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
* Identifies hidden problems and data patterns to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
* Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and explores new technologies.
* Supports a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
* Partners with Front Office to develop new applications and maintain the existing stack for stability.
* Participates in strategies to automate Front Office processes using technology solutions.
* Collaborates with global and local counterparts to leverage best-in-class technologies and solve business problems.
* Engages in business transformation projects across market analytics and reporting.
* Proposes and explores new solutions to give the firm a competitive edge.
Qualifications
* Formal training or certification in software engineering with proficient advanced experience developing in Python.
* Experience with development, deployment, and maintenance of commercial service-oriented applications.
* Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages and database querying languages.
* Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern languages.
* Experience with React and front-end development.
* Understanding of unit testing and software development life cycle (SDLC).
* Knowledge of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
* Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (cloud, AI/ML, mobile, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
* Business knowledge of simple derivative products and risk exposure evaluation using Greeks.
* Equities business knowledge or relevant experience in other areas.
* Knowledge of at least one relational database (e.g., Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle).
* Unix/Linux knowledge.
* Experience with continuous integration and deployment processes.
* Experience with project management.
* Experience with service-oriented platforms and current open-source frameworks.
