Health & Safety - Building Control Surveyor role at Ridge and Partners LLP. This role is part of expanding our Construction Health and Safety Team into a Compliance Team, including a Building Regulations Principal Designer. The role supports the Building Safety Act and current Building Regulations. We work across the UK with clients in diverse sectors including residential, commercial, retail, office, manufacturing, healthcare, leisure, hotel, sport, science, industry, energy and education.

Responsibilities
 * Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
 * Undertake plan checks and review designs to establish compliance for submission for Building Regulation approval.
 * Attend client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building regulations.
 * Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues and key stakeholders.
 * Ensure project design is completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
 * Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the design process.
 * Ensure output from projects is of a high standard.
 * Be aware of repeat and new business opportunities and escalate these to senior management.
 * Awareness of the value of, and starting to grow, a network of contacts is also important.
 * High technical and commercial standards must be established and maintained as quality of work and “added value” for our clients are priorities.
Communication Skills
 * Written communication involves End of Design Stage Reports, Building Regulations Trackers.
 * Verbal communication involves attendance at meetings and client facing discussions.
 * Computer literate.
 * Under supervision the role includes the ability to contribute to and develop bid submissions and fee proposals.
 * Being aware of new work opportunities and potential new clients, as well as maintenance of existing clients.
 * You will need to work closely with all members of the firm who could be either clients or collaborators.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Ideally educated to degree level in a construction related field with a preference for a design related degree or significant relevant, associated, and equivalent practical experience.
 * Experience of working on multiple projects.
 * An understanding and experience of the design and construction process together with experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
 * Excellent knowledge of the Building Regulations, codes and any other associated legislation.
 * Excellent client facing skills.
 * Membership to RICS, CABE or CIOB.
 * A current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
 * Ability to use SharePoint and other technology/programs.
