Senior Sonographer - Mat Leave Cover

Responsibilities
* Conduct obstetric, gynaecological (including trans‑vaginal scanning), abdominal, small parts and vascular ultrasound examinations to agreed protocols and standards.
* Carry out musculoskeletal ultrasound scans and injections where qualified.
* Provide written diagnostic reports after synthesising patient history and scan findings.
* Seek second opinions where necessary.
* Communicate scan results to patients verbally and to referrers with appropriate urgency.
* Maintain a very high standard of patient care and refer patients for timely management.
* Report any accidents, incidents or complaints to the Superintendent Sonographer promptly.
* Manage ultrasound equipment, report faults and collaborate in the evaluation of new equipment prior to procurement.
* Supervise student sonographers, providing clinical training and sharing knowledge.
* Maintain effective liaison with all radiology staff and external disciplines.
* Undertake ongoing training to keep current professional knowledge and expertise.
* Assist in setting departmental protocols and standards.
* Comply with departmental and trust policies, and use Radiology Systems, CRIS, Viewpoint and PACS appropriately while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
* DMU or PG Certificate or Diploma in medical ultrasound or equivalent.
* HCPC registered or equivalent.
Experience
* Full range of ultrasound experience, including Obstetrics & Gynaecology and General Medical Ultrasound.
* Independently reporting on the above scan areas.
* Experience of teaching and assessing student sonographers.
* Recent NHS experience.
* Vascular ultrasound experience.
