Finance Officer - Band 5 – Newtownards – Hybrid
Your new company You will be joining a large, well‑established public sector organisation that delivers essential services across the region. The finance function is undergoing continued development, and the team is seeking a motivated finance professional to support effective financial planning, performance monitoring and informed decision-making. Your new role As the Finance Officer, you will support senior finance colleagues and operational managers by providing clear, accurate financial information. Key duties include:
* Assisting with annual budget setting and ensuring plans align with organisational priorities.
* Supporting the development of efficiency, recovery and contingency plans.
* Identifying financial risks early and helping agree corrective actions.
* Enhancing the use of financial systems, reporting tools and analytical processes.
* Producing ad hoc financial reports and resolving queries from senior management.
What you'll need to succeed You must meet one of the following criteria:
* Degree + 2 years’ relevant finance experience
* AAT/HND + 2 years’ relevant finance experience
* Part‑qualified CCAB + 1 year’s relevant finance experience
* 3 years’ relevant Band‑4‑equivalent experience
You will also demonstrate:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* High Excel competency
* Solid understanding of accounting principles (accruals, prepayments)
* Ideally, experience in management accounts and variance analysis
* Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
