We are looking for a Telecommunications Assistant to join the London Telecoms team to provide proactive support for 600+ users on UC and Mobile technologies. The Telecommunications Assistant will be required to provide daily technical and desk side support on all software and hardware related issues, with an emphasis on taking ownership of calls and providing technical solutions whenever possible.
The team
Bird & Bird's Technology Team mission is to support the strong technology focus of the Firm, provide modern technology to support the business and creative solutions for our Clients.
In London, the team comprises 50+ technology staff covering a broad range of technologies and specialisms including business architecture, business solutions, project and programme management, modern infrastructure and they are all primarily focused on international projects working alongside colleagues in our 32 offices. Whether it's analysing new solutions, driving innovation, developing client solutions or providing a first class, high availability infrastructure and support we are a diverse, energised group focused on service and contributing to both the internal and external use of technologies. We work extensively across the network and seek candidates who are keen to engage internationally and make wider contributions both internally and externally than just IT service and delivery.
What you'll do
* Projects assigned will be varied but will include developing, testing and rolling out new or upgraded applications for the unified communications solution, researching the use of smartphone apps and working with the wider IT team on other solutions
* The role will also include education, increasing awareness and adoption of the solutions and technology tools to users
* Provision and support of current and future telecoms/unified communications technology
* Deployment of mobile technology, from handsets to system portals and associated apps
* Development, testing and rollout of apps for unified communications
* Raising internal awareness and the adoption of a varied unified communications toolkit
* Support of associated system portals
* Training of technology to clients using various media
* Data usage management
About you
* Excellent communication skills both spoken and written
* Excellent organisation, coordination and administration skills
* A logical mind, proactive and the ability to pick concepts up quickly
* A desire to educate and increase adoption of new technology
* Excellent team player but able to work independently
* Focus on the provision of excellent client service at all time
* Desirable but not essential, experience of telecoms and/or mobile technology
* Desirable but not essential, experience of working in a law firm
The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am- 5:30pm.
