About the role
Join the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Schools initiative across East Cornwall. As an EMHP you will deliver mental health support in schools, working with children, families and school staff, contributing to early intervention and the wellbeing of the community.
Main duties
* Work therapeutically with children and their families, providing support and treatment.
* Deliver low‑intensity CBT, guided self‑help, and specific therapeutic interventions for children and young people.
* Run group parenting programmes in line with EMHP training.
* Support schools in responding to the mental health needs of primary‑school aged children, and contribute to expanding services into secondary schools and colleges.
Person specification
* Eligible for registration with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Successful completion of a Health Education England commissioned one‑year Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) course with a recognised university at graduate level, or an equivalent qualification (Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner).
* Experience working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
* Experience delivering therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (e.g., low‑intensity CBT & guided self‑help).
* Previous experience in an EMHP role (preferred).
* Ability to work in a healthcare and educational setting and with diverse families.
