1:1 ESOL Tutor - Barnet
Prospero Teaching is looking for a 1:1 ESOL tutor to deliver bespoke ESOL sessions for Young People who require support in learning English as an Additional Language in the Barnet area.
The Opportunity
We are seeking educators with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, as well as disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. Prospero Teaching will provide support via our consultants and Training and Development Team. Tutors should be eager to work with children and young people with a variety of learning needs in a creative, flexible, holistic and trauma-informed manner to raise engagement and improve the educational journey.
The successful candidate will have outstanding teaching skills both in the classroom and when delivering innovative and engaging learning on a 1:1 basis, and a passion for helping learners from diverse backgrounds develop their English language skills.
Contract/Position Details
* Location - Barnet
* Position - 1:1 ESOL Tutor
* Type of work - Contract
* Start date - ASAP
* Duration / Likely Duration - Until sufficient progression is made
* Contract type - Temporary
* Full-time/part-time - Part time (dependent on pupils needs)
* Minimum rate of pay - £25 per hour
* Hours - Timetable can vary dependent on pupil availability (during the school day)
Experience, Training and Qualifications
* ESOL qualification (e.g., TEFL or CELTA)
* A minimum of 1 year EAL tutoring experience
* Be confident teaching UASC
* Provide a firm but fair approach
* Have recent safeguarding training or be willing to undergo Prospero's course
Eligibility
* Hold the right to work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
* Provide two professional child-related references
