Housing Litigation Solicitors - London NQ - 3 years+ PQE Salary £48,000 - £57,000 p.a. DOE
A Legal 500, Leading law firm looking to recruit dedicated and experienced Housing Solicitors for highly sought permanent position.
Our client serves corporate entities and private individuals in over 25 practice areas from offices throughout London and across England and Wales, and is recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a top‑tier firm.
Housing Department Background
The firm’s Housing team, ranked by the Legal 500, provides assistance to both landlords and tenants on all housing issues. Their practitioners are highly experienced in finding solutions to housing disputes and aim to address the issues quickly and effectively. The team offers lawyer‑supported dispute resolution or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to resolve housing disrepair matters, and regularly represents clients in the courts for unlawful eviction, possession proceedings and prepares applications for judicial review in cases of homelessness.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Report directly to Department Director
* Responsible for all aspects of Housing work and, where appropriate, provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members
* Manage an appropriate caseload of public and private housing matters, such as homelessness applications and appeals, disrepair claims, eviction and possession proceedings, property ownership disputes, unlawful eviction cases, succession rights for tenants, neighbourhood and anti‑social behaviour issues
* Conduct advocacy where appropriate
* Attend clients, take instructions and prepare cases
* Deal with correspondence
* Maintain accurate time‑costing procedures
* Implement recommendations following monthly file reviews promptly
* Ensure compliance with file management
Key Skills Required
* Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying
* Committed team player who adapts well to new challenges
* Prior supervisory experience and ability to meet key performance indicators
* Pro‑active approach with excellent client care skills and ability to handle vulnerable client matters sensitively and resolve complex practicalities
* Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to market the company and generate new business
* Excellent analytical and organisational skills
* Use own initiative and sound judgment
* Working knowledge of publicly funded housing work and ability to service privately funded cases
* Extensive experience in dealing with housing‑related work
* Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
* Proficient IT skills, familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management systems
