Role
Each year, Bethany Christian Trust helps over 7,000 people throughout Scotland avoid or move out of homelessness. Weachieve this by providing emergency and supported accommodation and services that help people build resilienceto the challenges that often lead to homelessness.
To help carry out this work, our Fundraising Team raises significant income while stewarding new and existingsupporters. As an experienced, proactive, and creative events fundraiser, you will assist your Team Lead in coordinating aprogramme of national events that align with the strategic aims of raising funds, building brand awareness, andincreasing fundraising capacity through ambassadors and participants.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will support other areas of fundraising, including churches andcommunity fundraising, corporates, individual giving, and marketing. Living our values, you will work withcolleagues across the charity to encourage event participation so that, together, we can help end homelessnessin Scotland one person at a time.

Elpis Trust delivers a person centred housing support service to 18 young women who are experiencing homelessness orare care leavers aged between 16-25 years. The supported accommodation is based in the Core service andsatellite flats in the Ruchill and Maryhill area of Glasgow. Elpis provides a high quality support service whichaddresses young woman’ identified and assessed needs and reflects the aims of the service to work withinrelevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws. Thisincludes adhering to Scottish Social Services Council codes of practice, National Care Standards and contractualrequirements. Staffs work closely with the young women to write up support plans and deliver an individuallytailored service, utilising Ladders to Success and GIRFEC, SHANARRI Outcomes.
Job Purpose:
To have specific working responsibility at present for 19 vulnerable young women, 9 living in the Core building and 9in scatter flats and 1 in Mother & Baby flat in the Ruchill and Maryhill areas of Glasgow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct support to young women who have experienced homelessness and/or have a variety of complexemotional and mental health needs.
* Provide support to young women in all areas ofservice.
* Establish a supportive relationship with each young woman, enabling them to maximise their ownresources in order to improve their quality of life, and to assist each young woman to be as independent aspossible in all aspects of their daily life, in line with their support plans.
* On a daily basis assistand support young women to carry out identified housing support tasks to ensure that they maintain and sustaintheir accommodation and be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the young women, as well as thehousing support service itself.
* Problem solve unexpected and difficult issues that may arise duringshift and deal with challenging behaviour when lone working, use own initiative in order to support the youngwomen’s complex issues, and make decisions based on current assessments of risk, following set risk assessmentsprotocols and procedures.
* Resolve complex young women issues, involving discussion with colleagues andrelevant agencies through reviews and meetings, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
* Risk assessyoung woman’s needs and actions and consult with appropriate people such as line manager, social worker, caseworker.
* Complete and update all relevant paperwork including housing support plans, risk assessments andcase notes for each young woman, complying with National Care Standards, SSSC Codes of Practice, GIRFEC model ofoutcomes (SHANARRI) to ensure person centred service delivery and to meet service aims.
* Complete regularhealth and safety welfare checks of the young women, the building environment and equipment, reporting anddealing with any issues raised during these checks.
* Inform line management of any areas of concern orsignificant change when delivering young women support, to ensure that appropriate risk assessment isundertaken.
* Carry out all duties in compliance with Elpis Trust’s policies andprocedures.
* Actively participate in 3 monthly support, supervision and observation.
* Work closelywith and with direction from the Duty Manager, to plan and deliver young women’s identified supportneeds.
* Work co-operatively as part of a team including attending and contributing to team meetings andwork in co-operation with other members of the support team, as well as colleagues from otheragencies.
* Communicate in a knowledgeable, confident and professional manner with external agencies,including social workers, case work team, commissioning team, carers and relatives of young women. This mayinclude email, telephone calls, letters or face to face meetings.
* Communicate with other team members ina respectful and supportive manner in order to promote positive team work and cohesion.
* Ensure the youngwomen’s views and wishes are central to your work and encourage a high level of young womenparticipation.
* To actively participate in identified training, on-going supervision and performancedevelopment.
Note: Duties will be reviewed and modified in line with the exigencies of the service.
Knowledge, education, qualifications, competences and experience:
* Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
* Able to meet registration requirements withScottish Social Services Council, Health and Social Care at S.V.Q. level 3, or be willing to achievequalifications within specified timescale.
* Have an awareness of relevant National Care Standards andtheir application to work practice.
* Understand and adhere to the Codes of Practice from Scottish SocialServices Council.
* Willing to maintain and enhance own knowledge, practice andcompetency.
* Previous experience working in Social Care.
* Experience of working with vulnerable young women and an understanding of the issues and needs involved.

Barlanark Greyfriars Church is looking for someone to explore, assess, and identify the different needs of thecongregation and the community and assist the Kirk Session in the creation of a strategic plan which will ensurethe church can continue to meet the needs of the community for the future.
The successful candidate will have relevant community development experience with strong communication skills withthe ability and confidence to establish positive relationships. Establish and maintain contact with people affected by homelessness and/or multiple complex needs who use theservice. This will necessitate working effectively with people who experience mental and physical ill health,substance dependence, offending, rooflessness and other support needs as appropriate.
Work as part of a team to help deliver an immediate response to individuals seeking assistance with homelessness,benefits, mental health and addiction support and safeguarding concerns, and help alleviate the crisis peopleare experiencing.
Carry out dynamic and comprehensive assessments of needs with individual clients liaising with, representing andreferring to other providers such as homeless casework teams, NHS practitioners, housing, statutory andvoluntary services.
Assist with benefits applications and representation at appeals, ensuring clients have access to full benefitentitlement.
Enter into supportive and empowering relationships with clients with the aim of assisting them to tackle the oftencomplex issues in their lives and access the support and services they need to help them at that moment in timeand longer term.
Deliver practical support to users of the service (e.g. assisting people with emergency food parcels etc. whererequired.)
Perform general contact and assessment duties within the service in order to supervise the operation of the serviceidentify needs and communicate with the wider team.
Provide a welcome and assessment of clients coming into the service ensuring health and safety is a priority.
Deliver outreach support to help clients access community-based resources in their own locality.
Attend relevant forums and events and develop sound relationships with other key providers as required.
Monitor and record in a consistent and professional fashion all work carried out on the client’s behalf.
Participate in the ongoing review of service delivery in order to optimize the service's use of resources inorder to best meet individuals’ needs.
Carry out any other duties as required by the management of The Marie Trust.
This post is over 3 days, preferably Wednesday – Friday. 9-5pm.
