Overview We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease to join the William Harvey Hospital team at Ashford.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex IBD patients (approximately 5,400 IBD patients in East Kent, of which about 930 are on advanced therapies).
Lead and develop the trustwide IBD team, including the nurse consultant and four IBD nurses.
Develop transition clinics and joint medical/surgical clinics in line with GIRFT recommendations.
Participate in the fortnightly Trustwide IBD MDT with a Histopathologist, Radiologist, and Colorectal surgeons.
Balance outpatient templates and endoscopy lists to prioritize IBD patients.
Support the GI Bleeding rota and a 1:8 Gastroenterology ward week, including in‑reach to the emergency pathways.
Contribute to regional working groups and develop specialist interests such as HBP, Hepatology, complex polyp service, GI physiology, and EUS.
Qualifications & Experience
Strong interest and ideally expertise in managing complex IBD.
Consultant‑level experience, whether established or early career on a consultant journey.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in gastroenterology wards and emergency pathways is desirable.
Familiarity with GIRFT or similar frameworks is an asset.
