An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Depot, Stores and Plant Operative within the Councils Fleet & Facilities Service. Our service is responsible for the council fleet assets with regards to compliance, maintenance, purchasing, hiring; facilities management with regards to compliance, maintenance, operational running of the depots and its stores (parts / clothing / fuel / materials), and general health and safety; and the cleaning service responsible for over 100 sites within the borough.
The role
This is a permanent position where you will become part of a team of the Depot team with the Fleet & Facilities Service.
As a Depot, Stores and Plant Operative you will be responsible for the operational running of the depot sites with respect of but not limited to opening / closing of the sites, stock control, operating the JCB on our waste site, minor depot maintenance / repairs, operating the fork truck, operating manual tools such as strimmer’s and herbicidal spraying, liaising with suppliers and contractors, Deliveries and collections, office moves, etc.

The team is also responsible for the Council’s waste transfer site within Warrington and you will be required to cover this site on a rota basis to keep it operational and assist with maintaining Environmental Protection Regulations for the site. Operating the JCB loading shovel is a large part of the job to ensure waste is stored, loaded, disposed of correctly, and not escape into the public domain.
What's needed?
It would be an advantage for applicants to have relevant experience of operating JCB loading shovels, Fork trucks, HGV driving, and undertaking maintenance and repair tasks.However, training will be provided for the right candidate.
Previous experience of using ICT software packages would be a bonus but training will be provided.
Working as part of a team and good communication internally and with customers, with a ‘Can Do’ attitude is an essential trait.
