As an Assistant Estimator, you’ll support the delivery of competitive, high-quality bids by analysing subcontractor returns, preparing cost plans, and managing project data throughout the tender process. If you're detail-oriented with a solid background in residential construction and a proactive approach to estimating, this role offers a strong foundation for career growth within a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Thoroughly analyse subcontractor returns, including comparisons, and engage with our supply chain to ensure suitable returns.
* Complete elemental rate breakdowns post-project and assist in managing our internal cost database.
* Support multiple-stage tenders, including preliminary costings and tender documentation.
* Assist with pre-qualification questionnaires and enquiry information as needed.
* Use historic rates and experience to price work and develop cost plans.
* Promote the company and seek new tender opportunities under the direction of the Directors.
* Prepare documents for tender adjudications and participate actively in the process.
Location:
You will join our Preconstruction Team at our head office in Sherborne St John, a ten-minute drive from Basingstoke town centre. Here, you will work alongside experienced professionals who lay the groundwork for successful projects, from detailed cost planning to risk management.

Required Knowledge and Expertise:
* Working towards or holding a HNC in Construction or a relevant Degree.
* Knowledge of construction and private residential building contracting.
* Awareness of property taxation and contractual law.
* Understanding of traditional building methods and products used in listed building refurbishment and high-end residential construction.
* Experience with estimating software such as Esti-Mate or ConQuest.
