Main duties of the job
We are looking for a community based Maternity SupportWorker who is committed and passionate in providing care during a woman'smaternity journey in both home and hospital settings.
This important role will include caring for women, birthingpeople and their families throughout the antenatal and postnatal period andwill include working alongside the midwifery team to provide education, supportand care to mums and babies in the community setting. Safety of our women andbabies is paramount, and so we are looking for caring, compassionate, andenthusiastic staff members to join our Team.
As a member of the community team you will beexpected to work independently at times and will be required to travel aroundthe area to visit families in a range of settings

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

The role of community Maternity Care Assistant includessupporting with the day to day running of the community team, includingadministrative duties, therefore knowledge of computer skills is desirable. Youwill be visiting patients in both clinic settings and in their own homes toprovide a range of antenatal and postnatal support, including infant feedingsupport. You will also be involved in parent education and discussions onhealth promotion, with a strong focus on the Public Health Agenda.
Key skills include to being a good team player, committed,kind, approachable, dependable and reliable. Practical skills would includebeing able to take manual Blood Pressures and venepuncture skills. Anunderstanding of the key public health messages around smoking, healthlifestyle in pregnancy and infant feeding knowledge would be desirable.
A full driving license or the ability to travelis essential for this role as you will be working independently at times
