About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead design and engineering delivery on the North Hykeham Relief Road – a major highways project in Lincoln. Operating within our UK Civils business, you will take full ownership of engineering performance across the project lifecycle, ensuring design excellence, compliance and integration with operational delivery. This is a senior, high-impact role where you will influence outcomes, drive standards and lead multidisciplinary teams across a complex infrastructure scheme.
What you'll be doing
* Lead all design and engineering activities across the project
* Ensure the quality, accuracy and compliance of all design information
* Manage external design consultants and ensure effective performance
* Oversee temporary works design and implementation
* Drive technical approvals, consents and compliance with contractual requirements
* Lead CDM Principal Designer activities and ensure statutory compliance
* Ensure designs are aligned with operational needs, delivering practical and cost‑effective solutions
* Champion a “right first time” approach across engineering delivery
* Collaborate with internal Subject Matter Experts to optimise project outcomes
* Lead engagement with clients, stakeholders and third parties from a design perspective
* Liaise with the Technical Approval Authority (TAA)
* Drive integration of digital engineering and technology across the project
* Support and assure technical compliance across the supply chain
Who we're looking for
* Strong background in civil engineering, ideally within highways or major infrastructure
* Proven experience leading design and engineering delivery on complex construction projects
* Solid understanding of construction design, engineering processes and site operations
* Commercial awareness with a focus on risk management and value optimisation
* Confident leadership style with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and external partners
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Results‑driven, quality‑focused and able to perform under pressure
* Flexible approach with willingness to travel across the region as required
