Director – Structural Engineering
The Opportunity
We’re working in partnership with a respected and growing structural engineering consultancy to appoint a Director to lead the launch of a brand-new Manchester office.
With a successful office in Leeds and a reputation for innovative, high-quality design work across a range of sectors, this is a rare opportunity to build a team, shape a regional strategy, and play a pivotal leadership role in the company’s next phase of growth.
This role is perfect for a Chartered Structural Engineer with a strong network in the North West, who’s ready to take ownership of a new venture — with full backing from an established consultancy.
The Role
1. Lead the setup and strategic direction of the new Manchester office
2. Win and deliver a wide range of building structures projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use, etc.)
3. Recruit and manage a high-performing engineering team
4. Build strong relationships with clients, architects, and project partners across the region
5. Oversee project delivery, ensuring technical excellence and commercial success
6. Collaborate with the Leeds-based leadership team to drive growth objectives
7. Represent the business at industry events and regional forums
What We’re Looking For
* Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or equivalent)
* 10+ years’ experience in UK building structures consultancy
* Strong leadership background — ideally with experience setting up or leading a regional office
* Well-connected in the North West property/construction market
* Commercially astute with a track record of winning and delivering projects
* A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with ambition to grow something long-term
