Children’s Contact Worker
Birmingham Children’s Trust

Birmingham Children’s Trust is dedicated to working together to make Birmingham the greatest city to grow up in. We are passionate about making a positive difference for children, young people, and families, and we are looking for committed Children’s Contact Workers to join our team.

About the Role
As a Children’s Contact Worker, you will play a vital role in transporting and supervising children and young people in care during contact sessions with their parents, carers, or others identified in their care plan. You will ensure these sessions are safe, positive, and in line with procedures, while providing high-quality written reports on each session.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport children to and from contact venues.

Supervise contact sessions, ensuring safeguarding and agreed requirements are followed.

Provide accurate, timely written reports on each session.

Build professional relationships with parents, carers, social workers, and other professionals.

Report any safeguarding concerns promptly.

Maintain contact rooms to meet Health and Safety standards.

Work flexibly to meet service needs, including covering sessions in and outside Birmingham.

About You
We are looking for individuals who can communicate effectively with children and adults, remain professional in challenging situations, and work independently while being part of a supportive team.

Essential Requirements

Substantial work, voluntary, or personal experience of direct work with children under 10 years old.

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Knowledge of car safety legislation when transporting children.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Current UK driving licence and sole use of a car for work purposes.

Ability to work flexibly, including outside core hours.

Desirable

Qualification in childcare or equivalent.
