About the Role
As a Specialty Doctor in Urology, you will work closely with the Consultant Urologists and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive general urology service at QEH.
You will contribute to inpatient care, outpatient clinics, emergency urology, and elective operating lists, helping to support service delivery and reduce waiting times.
Responsibilities
1. Provide management of urology inpatients and outpatients for elective and emergency cases
2. Support outpatient clinics including LUTS, haematuria, prostate assessment, and follow‑up clinics
3. Assist in operating lists, including endoscopic and minor urological procedures
4. Participate in the urology on‑call rota (weekend on‑call expected as the service evolves)
5. Help reduce waiting lists across clinics and theatres
6. Manage urological emergencies such as torsion, obstructed kidneys, and acute retention
What We're Looking For
Essential:
7. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
8. Full GMC registration with licence to practise
9. Minimum 4 years' postgraduate training, including at least 2 years in Urology
10. Experience managing inpatient and outpatient urological conditions
11. Competency in minor urological procedures including flexible cystoscopy
12. Evidence of supervising or training junior doctors
13. Minimum 1 year of UK experience
14. ALS (or willingness to obtain within a grace period)
Desirable:
15. Interest in developing a subspecialty area
16. Experience in teaching, audit, or service development
