Job summary

The North Yorkshire and York Community Eating Disorder Team for children and young people are looking to recruit a highly motivated Band 4 Psychology Assistant to join their multi-disciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our service, supporting families and young people in the community. The Community Eating Disorder Service for children and young people is an established supportive team that offers assessment and a wide variety of evidence based treatment for young people and families.

We are looking to recruit a Psychology Assistant to form an integral part of our team, working under the supervision of Clinical Psychologists to support the team in delivering a high quality service to the local population.

The North Yorkshire and York Community Eating Disorder Service is a locality wide team, with main bases in Orca House, York and Dragon Parade Clinic, Harrogate, with additional outreach into North Moor House, Northallerton and Lake House, Scarborough. The successful post holder will be expected to travel within the locality to family homes, clinic bases and paediatric settings depending on demand - travel expenses and time will be included.

Main duties of the job

The main elements of the clinical work will include supporting young people and families in both 1:1 work, as part of a care team and using an evidence based model and care pathway, developing and facilitating group work interventions, alongside opportunities to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions provided.

The successful candidate will have a recognised undergraduate degree in psychology, and experience of working with children, young people, and their families; and while experience in eating disorders would be an advantage, training and development opportunities will be provided in these areas for the right applicant. The successful candidate will also be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.

About us

The service is looking to appoint an individual with a range of transferrable skills, who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about working with this client group. In exchange the successful candidate will be well supported within a friendly multi disciplinary team, with continuing opportunities for their ongoing professional development.

Psychologists & Psychological Therapists provide key leadership roles within the Trust. To support this we have developed leadership profiles for each psychology band and the profile card associated with this post is attached on NHS Jobs. You can find more information about the NHS Leadership Academy's Healthcare Leadership Model and the profiles at their website. We encourage you to look at these resources as they will play a part in the interview process.
