Role Purpose As a Ceramic Glazing Technician, you will be responsible for the efficient planning, operation and execution of the ceramic glazing (including colour matching) and firing processes. The incumbent will also support the calibration and testing of products as per UKAS requirements, as well as producing documentation, reports and information as per accreditation and company requirements. You will develop safe, quality focused and efficient working practices across areas of responsibility, whilst implementing lean principles to drive improvements, cost savings and produce a high-quality product. Responsibilities Managing stock, disposal and safety aspects of base glaze, pigments, bisque tile and production, through to packaged/stored fired tile stock Colour matching of glaze to NPL master standards Producing bulk glaze from colour match trials Dipping of tiles – preparation, loading, operation, testing, cleaning, storage Firing of tiles – preparation, loading, operation, testing, selection, packaging Supporting Calibration & Measurement activities to customer requirements Invoicing, packaging and dispatch of Colour Standards orders, including selection where appropriate Liaise with customers where necessary i.e. calibrations, shipment info, and provide customers with requested documentation and questionnaires Such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Company Experience Background in ceramics glazes and colours Understanding of Colour Measurement systems & theories Understanding of H&S procedures, in particular COSHH and risk assessments Qualifications/Skills Good general level of education, including GCSE Maths & Science, preferably A/S Level Physics and Maths ISOH qualification Dextrous, with excellent colour vision (due to the nature of the work) Computer literate with Microsoft Office Resilient and thrives in a fast-paced environment Excellent attention to detail Problem solving with a thorough approach Experience with CRM (Sage) system would be advantageous Core Features & Benefits Permanent position Full time, Monday to Friday, 37hours Private Medical Insurance Medical Cash Plan Annual leave of 25 days plus bank holidays (including Christmas shutdown) Pension scheme (matched up to 5%) Onsite Mental Health First Aiders Life Assurance up to four times basic salary Onsite at brand new facilities in Stone, Staffordshire A corporate library to facilitate informed decision-making and innovation.
