Sister - Children's Outpatient Department/ IBD Shared Care Liaison
We are delighted to advertise a full‑time permanent post for an experienced Children’s Nurse to support the Children’s Outpatients Manager.
Job Summary
Support the running of Outpatients across 5 sites, lead nursing and support staff, ensure high quality care, manage staff and equipment, and participate in direct clinical work. Provide shared care support for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) one day per week in partnership with the Great North Children’s Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage nursing and support staff across 5 sites.
* Ensure clean, safe, and welcoming environments.
* Coordinate staff and equipment to run clinics seamlessly.
* Provide direct clinical care, including IBD assessments and shared‑care liaison.
* Work closely with the IBD team at GNCH, travelling to Newcastle regularly.
* Develop and maintain robust care processes and clinical audit.
* Support staff professional development and adapt services to legislation changes.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
* Experience of quality assurance activities/audit.
* Knowledge of safeguarding children legislation and policy.
* Good IT skills, including use of EPR and other electronic systems.
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of supervising staff and substantial post‑registration experience.
* Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) on part 1 of the NMC register with a valid UK NMC PIN.
* Venepuncture training/competence.
* Ability to work flexible hours and travel independently across sites and GNCH.
Desirable
* Competent in skin prick testing.
* Leadership qualification.
* Experience of recruitment, selection, performance appraisals.
* Experience caring for children with IBD and awareness of national guidance.
Salary & Benefits
Band 6 – £38,682 to £46,580 a year (per annum). Permanent contract, full‑time. Involves travel across sites.
