Role:
Temporary Maintenance Engineer (6-month contract)
Salary: £30,000
Location: Sheffield
Hours: 40 hours per week (or 32 hours over 4 days)
This role supports the planning, coordination and delivery of operational activities that ensure the smooth completion of planned and reactive maintenance works. You will coordinate maintenance activities across a range of client premises, maintain accurate records, build strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and provide excellent customer service. A developing knowledge of building systems is expected.
Key responsibilities:
Operational & Maintenance Coordination
1. Develop and maintain TPM/PPM systems for key plant, equipment and premises.
2. Carry out weekly PPM maintenance/inspections and minor repairs.
3. Maintain stock levels of spare parts and tools.
4. Participate in operational, health & safety and environmental meetings.
5. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety rules, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
6. Support incident reporting and implement corrective actions promptly.
7. Respond to incoming enquiries from suppliers and contractors, processing them efficiently.
8. Assess job requirements and dispatch engineers or subcontractors in line with SLAs.
9. Issue and monitor permits to work for all contractors attending site.
10. Diagnose internal maintenance requests and raise works orders via the FM system.
11. Maintain clear and accurate progress notes within the FM system.
Communication & Relationships
12. Report daily to relevant team members and maintain strong internal communication.
13. Liaise with suppliers and contractors to request goods/services as needed.
14. Report PPM defects to clients clearly, effectively and with appropriate urgency.
15. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, managers, external contractors and clients.
Administration
16. Liaise with staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure accurate information is stored within the TPM system.
17. Update TPM systems with contract information, service records, inspection records and statutory documents.
18. Maintain up-to-date asset registers.
19. Prepare management reports as required.
20. Administer approved supplier processes and update systems accordingly.
21. Attend team meetings and complete all necessary paperwork.
Training & Compliance
22. Attend and complete mandatory training and development courses.
23. Work in line with all relevant policies and procedures.
24. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building regulations and approved codes of practice.
Additional Duties
25. Keep updated on all matters relating to internal policies.
26. Provide supervision where required.
27. Undertake any other duties as delegated by the line manager.
