The Opportunity
This is an academically rigorous secondary school where Spanish is the most popular elective at both GCSE and A-Level. The MFL department is a vibrant, multilingual hub that prioritizes authentic cultural immersion over rote memorization. We are seeking an energetic Spanish ECT who is committed to high-target language usage and who can bring Hispanic culture—from Madrid to Mexico City—to life for our students.
Role Details
* Language Immersion: Delivering high-engagement lessons focused on "Epistemic Agency"—the ability for students to use the language creatively and independently from Year 7 onwards.
* Linguistic Support: You will have a dedicated native-speaking Spanish Assistant assigned to your classes 3 days a week, specifically to lead small-group speaking interventions and "conversation clinics" for your GCSE cohorts.
* Pedagogical Mentoring: Weekly 1-to-1 meetings with the Head of MFL, focusing on Conti’s EPI (Extensive Processing Instruction) and phonics-led approaches to language acquisition.
* Career Fast-Track: The school has a successful history of promoting ECTs to "Head of Spanish" or "International Trips Coordinator" within 24-36 months. You will be encouraged to lead a virtual exchange program with our sister school in Valencia during your first year.
