You will work closely with various other services such as GP Practices, the local authority adult social care, substance misuse and children’s services to name but a few.
This team is part of the Mental Health Transformation of services and the blended team where our voluntary service colleagues are fully embedded within the team.
The team is also made up of a rich resource of multidisciplinary professionals who support psychological ways of working. The team includes Registered Nurses, Social Workers. Doctors, Psychologists, Assistant Psychologist, Occupational Therapists, Support Recovery Workers, Peer Support Worker, Psychotherapists, Administrators and an Employment specialist as well as working closely within a designated locality with Primary care mental health link workers, the Local Authorities and voluntary services.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for an identified community caseload, ensuring high standard of professional
conduct to comply with best practice and professional accountability.
To promote a service user focused service.
Participate in audits and survey relevant to the team.
To participate in development of new policies and procedures as required.
Ensure that clients receive a culturally competent service.
To co-ordinate the day-to-day activity and manage the workload of the Team.
To ensure the legal requirements of the Mental Health Act (1983) and subsequent amendments
are adhered to.
To establish and maintain good relationships with service users, carers and voluntary sector
colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In addition to the main duties above:
To provide best evidence practice to service users which complies with legislation, policies
and procedures and relevant quality, governance and local and national guidelines.
Liaise with General Practice and Primary Care colleagues to promote partnership working
Ensuring that the local demographics are taken into consideration for service provision and
improvement

To adhere to Health & Safety requirements
To be aware of the Trust Complaints Policy in order to promote excellence of service and
consumer satisfaction.
Awareness and understanding of effective use of risk management techniques
Awareness of service standards/targets and ensure they are being met
Knowledge of national and international best practice and innovation and implementation
Staff Management
To provide supervision to all support staff as required
To mentor / supervise trainees as directed by deputy / team manager
To coordinate the day-to-day activity and manage the workload of the team in the absence of the deputy/team manager.
Financial Management
To be responsible for handling and safe storage of patients monies and valuables
To be responsible for the safe use of equipment and resources within the workplace.
Data Quality and Administration
To adhere to the Trusts policies on Record Keeping and Care Programme Approach.
Ensure data is inputted accurately into the relevant information system
Person specification
Mental health experience
Essential criteria
1. Experience of working within Mental Health.
2. Significant post-qualification experience, which must be within mental health services
3. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary environment/community experience
4. Experience of working within an NHS/Local Authority environment and an understanding of the issues/ policies/ practice within these environments.
Desirable criteria
5. Previous appointment as an ASW/AMHP/Men tal Health Officer
Additional Requirments
Essential criteria
6. Car Driver - Full driving licence
7. Able to travel between Trust sites throughout the County
8. Flexible working according to the needs of the service and to support work/life balance and improving working lives. Ability to work shifts and weekends when required.
Education and Qualification
Essential criteria
9. RNMH / RMN registered by the NMC OR Qualified Social Worker registered by the HCPC
10. Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
11. Qualified Mental Health Social Work/Award/Appoi nted AMHP
12. Educated to Degree Level
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
13. Thorough understanding and working knowledge of mental disorder and the treatment options.
14. A thorough working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and subsequent amendments
15. Working knowledge of the NHS & Community Care Act and other social care & mental health legislation, policy & guidance
16. Ability to assess and manage complex and high risk situations effectively for the benefit of service users and carers
17. Good report writing skills and the ability to compile complex case recording and report presentation, including legal documents i.e. social circumstances reports, court reports etc.
18. Ability to manage and coordinate professionals, teams and services and mobilise provision where appropriate.
19. Assessment skills and the ability to compile care plans in partnership with service users, carers and others
20. Assertiveness and engagement with other professionals, able to make reasoned arguments and represent own professional views and perspectives
21. Decision -making and problem solving skills, able to adopt creative and flexible approaches to meet the needs of service users.
22. Highly developed organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and delegate effectively.
23. Well -developed communication skills, able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences
24. Mental Health Practice Skills and an understanding of CPA and the NSF standards.
