Watch this short clip to discover how Arup are shaping a better world and how you could be a part of it The Opportunity In order to grow our delivery across a number of high-profile frameworks and other commissions in the energy and water sectors, we are seeking a technical designer who will have a focus in delivering project Health and Safety Roles to join our team. This role will suit someone who is currently in a technical designer role, but is keen to learn & develop skills around health & safety and CDM. Full support & training will be provided for individuals that are keen to build on their technical design background into H&S & CDM design support. Once proficient & comfortable in the role, you will play a key part in managing health and safety through design and construction phases on a wide variety of water projects including coastal and river flood defence, SuDS and Green Infrastructure, and Dams and Reservoirs as well as a growing number of energy projects including pumped storage schemes. You would also work with our wider Infrastructure Team in areas such as highways, structures, and land development. The role would initially be providing support on schemes where Arup are the named Principal Designer. We would be looking for you to take on increasing duties in leading the delivery of this service on projects as your experience develops. You will ensure compliance of projects with internal and client management systems, manage and coordinate the design risk management process whilst promoting the safe by design principles and industry best practice. All whilst ensuring alignment with health and safety legislation and arranging and assisting with CDM PD competency assessments for existing and new staff. This will include performing audits of projects. Somebody who understands and has the skills to manage and coordinate the design risk management process; has relevant qualifications and training, understands safe by design principles and ability to adopt the principles of prevention, is an effective communicator, has the confidence to challenge and ability to influence others would be a great fit for the role.
