The Directorate of Student Experience and Teaching Excellence plays a central role in supporting students throughout their academic journey. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our student experience. You’ll manage a portfolio of complex casework including academic appeals, applicant complaints, extenuating circumstances, academic misconduct, and student change of circumstances. You’ll provide expert advice to students, staff, and panels, and act as the University’s operational contact with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA).
As a confident communicator and experienced casework professional, you’ll bring clarity, consistency, and compassion to sensitive processes. You’ll lead a small team, ensuring service quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll also play a key role in shaping policy, delivering training, and producing institutional reports that inform strategic decisions.
What you will be doing:
1. Leading the Academic Continuation Team to deliver high-quality student casework services.
2. Managing a portfolio of student casework including academic misconduct, appeals, extenuating circumstances, and student change of circumstances.
3. Acting as the University’s operational contact with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA).
4. Ensuring consistency and compliance with internal and external regulations.
5. Liaising with the Students’ Union and senior colleagues to support students through sensitive processes.
6. Producing reports, identifying trends, and contributing to policy development and training.
Qualifications/ experience:
7. Significant experience managing complex casework.
8. Experience of leading staff and services, ideally within a regulatory or Higher Education environment.
9. Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and communicate them clearly.
10. Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

12. Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience
