Pay: £27.49 - £30.63 Depending on experience
PLUS, a Golden Hello of £2500 paid in two instalments over 6 months (External applicant only)
Hours: 34.5 hours per week worked across 3 days. 4 week rolling rota.
Accountable to: Head of Service
Reports to: Lancashire Clinical Manager

Base: The post will be based at the Rossendale Minor Injuries Unit (RMIU). RMIU aims to deliver services between 8am - 8pm 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Evening and weekend work will be required as part of this post.

Responsibilities
* Exercise clinical expertise, levels of judgment, discretion and decision making in clinical care, as demonstrated under agreed parameters.
* Provide a high standard of care for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed minor injury needs.
* Develop clinical competencies with training and mentorship for the right candidate.
* Work with and champion the unit in conjunction with Senior Managerial colleagues.
* Support the Management team and Clinical Manager to ensure service KPIs/Targets are met and identify improvements beyond set targets.
* Ensure mandatory training is up to date and receive suitable training/CPD for ongoing development.
* Practice autonomously as an independent practitioner and non-medical prescriber, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment/referral and discharge of minor injuries.
* Identify the need for and initiate and interpret diagnostic investigations and results (X-Ray).
* Undertake invasive and non-invasive procedures to establish diagnosis; independently undertake telephone triage.
* Work within current non-medical prescribing legislation.
* Monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision, clinical Audit, and evidence-based practice; provide professional leadership.
* Contribute to the Clinical Governance agenda through audit and research within the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide professional and clinical advice within the multi-disciplinary team; may work across sites within the Lancashire FCMS team.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
* Relevant professional qualification.
* Experience of working independently as an unsupervised practitioner in primary or urgent care.
* Experience in undertakings telephone triage and remote prescribing.
* Teaching and mentorship; up-to-date CPD portfolio.
* Ability to work in highly demanding environments; development of clinical leadership skills.
* Diplomacy and negotiation skills; resourceful problem-solving abilities.
* IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of NHS/NICE guidelines; knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency and inter-professional resources; risk assessment and management skills.
* Ability to identify personal development needs.

* Clinical: Assess, treat and advise patients with minor injuries; lead shifts; supervise the clinical team; refer to appropriate care when needed; ensure safe practice within scope; perform advanced practice duties including x-ray review and expanded roles; handle unscheduled care responsibilities.
* Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures and protocols; ensure patient information is up-to-date and presented appropriately.
