Description Corporate Infrastructure Services (CIS) builds and operates the systems that power Amazon's corporate offices globally - the networks, compute platforms, audio-visual systems, and operational tooling that every Amazonian depends on. Our Systems Engineering function owns the control plane, observability platform, automation frameworks, and engineering standards that make this infrastructure reliable, scalable, and cost-effective across a worldwide footprint. We are looking for a Systems Development Engineer to build and maintain components within our infrastructure automation and observability systems. You will work within one of our technical domains - networking, observability, compute, automation, or AV - building the tools, integrations, and automation that keep corporate infrastructure running at scale. This is a hands-on building role. You will write software, build automation, troubleshoot systems, and improve operational performance. You will work within defined systems and architectures, solving straightforward problems and learning to tackle more difficult ones. You will be supported by experienced engineers who will help you grow your skills across software development, systems design, and operational excellence. You will work with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, S3, CloudWatch), Python, and infrastructure-as-code tools. You will learn to build within our CI/CD pipelines, contribute to our observability platform, and operate the systems you build. Key job responsibilities - Build and maintain components, tools, and automation within an established infrastructure platform using Python and AWS services - Write tested, maintainable, and well-documented code that follows team engineering standards and passes automated pipeline gates - Troubleshoot and resolve issues in your team's systems, researching root causes and thoroughly fixing defects - Contribute to system design discussions, learning to identify risks and make technical trade-offs - Improve your team's operational performance by automating manual processes and improving monitoring and alerting - Build and enhance CI/CD pipeline components to support reliable, repeatable deployments - Participate in on-call rotations, learning to diagnose and resolve operational issues across distributed systems - Write clear documentation for the systems and components you build, and improve existing team knowledge bases Basic Qualifications - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust - Experience with Linux systems administration - - - Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems) - - - Experience building or maintaining software components in a professional environment - - - Understanding of version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts Preferred Qualifications - - Experience in AWS services - - Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting - - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes - - - Experience with Python in an infrastructure automation context - - - Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools - - - Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Grafana, or similar) Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
