Mechanical Design Manager We’re working with a leading M&E contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK, particularly within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and laboratory sectors. Operating from their Ballymena office, the company is expanding its design management team as part of wider growth across England and Northern Ireland. They’re now looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Manager to take responsibility for managing and coordinating the mechanical building services / MEP design process on major projects. The role will focus on ensuring design information produced by consultants aligns with project specifications, regulations, and client expectations, providing technical oversight, compliance checks, and supporting smooth project delivery. You’ll work closely with consultants and internal pre-construction teams, review and onboard design documentation ahead of construction, and represent the business in client meetings. The role offers exposure to significant healthcare and life science projects, including work across London and the wider UK, with occasional travel as needed. You’ll also take ownership of HVAC design elements and contribute to Revit and BIM coordination where applicable. Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Design Manager • Manage and oversee the mechanical building services process across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with technical standards and client requirements • Coordinate design information between consultants, pre-construction teams, and site operations to support seamless project delivery • Review and approve consultant designs to confirm compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards • Liaise directly with clients to present design solutions, address queries, and ensure project objectives are met Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MEP design, ideally within healthcare or pharmaceutical environments. You’ll have solid technical knowledge, an understanding of design compliance, and experience coordinating consultant-led design work. Experience with BIM and Revit software would be beneficial.
