As an apprentice to Hayward Tyler, you will be trained to become a skilled operative with training in core areas such as manual/CNC machining, inspection, and gain insight into other skills such as welding, sheet metal, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other engineering principles.
The Engineering Machining Technician Apprenticeship aims to provide real engineering qualifications along with practical on-the-job skills through a combination of day-release college training and work-based learning activities.
Please note, the training provider for this apprenticeship may be based in Northampton, and applicants will need to be able to travel there weekly.

Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
The 4-year apprenticeship program is structured in partnership with the college as follows:
* Year One: Gaining skills in understanding & reading engineering drawings, fitting, hand tools/techniques, machining, measuring equipment.
* Year Two: Specific training in core areas to develop skills such as manual machining, CNC machining, work holding, inspection.
* Year Three: Developing workshop skills using more focused techniques.
* Year Four: Working towards becoming a skilled operator and improving competence in a chosen specialty.
