Role
Field Service Engineer – Faslane
Primary Purpose of the Role: You will be a member of Faslane based Field Services team, supporting the planning and conduct of predominantly marine engineering activities on our customers vessels. These activities will encompass both corrective and preventative maintenance on Marine Engines, Generators, Hydraulic Systems and Electrical Power Systems, or may be an advisory role as required.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
* Be responsible for the Health and Safety of all Thales activities carried out by you and comply with: Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe systems of work, and be ultimately accountable for your own day-to-day welfare
* Support to Vessels in Defect Rectification: Conduct and supervise front-line support including fault diagnosis and testing as well as supporting trials both in harbour and at sea
* Maintain engineering records to approved MCA / ISM standards (e.g., defect reporting and planned maintenance schedules, using an electronic system)
* Write engineering defect reports
* Support to Vessels in Maintenance Periods / Refits: Conduct scheduled maintenance activities; escalate engineering issues to the Service Delivery Manager as required
* Maintain engineering records to MCA / ISM standards (electronic system)
* Write post maintenance reports
* This role requires the ability to go to sea to support tests and trials and may involve after hours and night working
* Identify and pursue personal and professional development
* Compliance with all export control rules and regulations including ITAR
* Perform additional ad-hoc duties consistent with the role
* Be able to work in restricted spaces – the USV engine space is a restricted space and not everyone will be able/willing to access the compartment

* Quality of work produced against agreed standards
* Delivery to timescales
* Delivery to budget

* Performance against mandatory training and development in Thales Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems
Expected Competence Level
Skills (underpinning knowledge)
* Installation, fault-finding and repair of marine engines, generators and systems
* Extensive experience in service, maintenance and operation of marine mechanical equipment including pumps and hydraulics
* Experience in marine electrical systems 240v/415v/24v
* Strong analytical and methodical problem solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey technical issues to diverse audiences
* Ability to work under pressure independently
* Experience in preventative maintenance engineering schedules
* Able to use a range of IT tools
Experience
As a Marine Field Services Engineer, you will have a track record in a relevant marine engineering discipline, preferably with Marine Engines, Generators, and Hydraulic systems. Defence environment experience is advantageous but not essential. You must resolve issues effectively and communicate at all levels. Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

Qualifications and Certification
Essential
* HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent (desirable)
* NVQ Marine Engineer or equivalent
* Full UK Driving Licence
