We are looking for qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners to work within our Mental Health Support Teams across South Tyneside and Sunderland. We have two posts available - Healthy Minds Team (South Tyneside) and Healthy Heads Team (Sunderland).
If you have a passion for working to support children's mental health, focusing on early intervention and prevention within an education setting and working within the National MHST model, then this might be the opportunity for you.
You will be expected to work to fulfil all three functions of the Mental Health Support Team and work positively within their identified schools to build and create a positive mental health culture throughout the education setting.
Responsibilities
* Deliver low intensity CBT (LICBT) evidence-based interventions for anxiety and low mood in children and young people within an education setting.
* Work with schools to deliver a Whole School Approach to mental health, building awareness and emotional resilience through workshops, assemblies, and whole school activities.
* Provide regular consultation and timely advice around children and young people’s mental health to school professionals.
* Deliver a high-quality training program for parents and professionals, and run groups for children, young people and parents.
* Operate within the National MHST model and cooperate with the Healthy Minds/Healthy Heads teams in schools across the footprint.
Qualifications
* Essential: Post-Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Studies in the Education Environment.
* Essential: BABCP/BPS registration, or achieve within the first six months of employment.
* Essential: UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Essential: Current UK professional registration (NHS/NHS Careers guidance).
* Desirable: Post-graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, therapeutic training or related area; supervision qualification.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families.
* Essential: Experience of working in a community/education context.
* Essential: Experience of delivering low-intensity psychological interventions.
* Essential: Experience of working in multiagency settings and safeguarding.
* Desirable: Experience in teaching or delivering training; experience with clinical outcomes targets.
Physical and Other Requirements
* Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
* Ability to manage time and diary, and to meet training/course and service requirements.
* Ability to work flexibly, including occasional unsocial hours as needed.
