ROLE SUMMARY: Lead the development of the medical strategy for Vaccines and Infectious Diseases and ensure that all medical activities are aligned to the medical strategy, with a focus on ruthless prioritisation to deliver the greatest impact. Partner with the Vaccines & Infectious Diseases Commercial Organisation and be the single point of contact and accountability to ensure medical alignment on key strategies, deliverables and communication. Lead the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases medical affairs team who: Deliver the medical strategy for Pfizer’s inline and pipeline vaccines and infectious disease medicines Demonstrate the value of our vaccines and medicines through data generation, publications and scientific communications Establish Pfizer as a key research partner through our clinical trials, non-interventional studies and research collaborations (in partnership with R&D, GSSO and global/international medical affairs) Communicate the safe and appropriate use of Pfizer medicines and vaccines to improve patient outcomes, enhance clinical practice and support business needs at the national, regional and global level Establish peer to peer relationships with healthcare professionals and other relevant decision makers Provide subject matter expertise and high-quality scientific exchange, bringing in insights into the organisation to shape strategy Provide focused, relevant clinical and scientific information in response to external stakeholder needs Create industry leading omnichannel educational and scientific content Champion the patient voice when developing and implementing medical strategies Leverage strong cross-functional partnerships with internal colleagues and departments Ensure medical activities and materials are compliant with the ABPI Code and standard operating procedures Enhance team capabilities in external engagement, deep subject matter expertise, data generation and scientific communication, including via digital channels. Ensure responsible budget management for the therapy area. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Leadership and Team Management Provide leadership and line management of the medical team, including setting business objectives, performance management and team development Lead development of the medical plan and strategy for vaccines and infectious diseases, including inline and pipeline portfolio Champion the growth and development of talented medical colleagues Provide coaching and guidance for medical team to support them achieving excellence in their role, including deep subject matter expertise and outstanding external engagement capabilities Drive and apply innovative approaches and use cases for digital technology and AI to enhance medical work Shape strategy through membership of medical and commercial leadership teams Plan resource allocation to ensure appropriate resources to fulfil medical objectives and business needs External Engagement Act as the key point of contact for medical and scientific engagement with the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and associated scientific committees and experts Provide medical support for regulatory interactions with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Provide medical support for market access interactions with HTA bodies (NICE, SMC, AWMSG), NHS England (and equivalent in devolved administrations) and horizon scanning centres Work with key external stakeholders during the lifecycle of Pfizer vaccines and infectious disease medicines, bringing insights into the organisation to shape strategy and providing focused, relevant information in response to their needs Provide support for media, government and patient group activities, including policy development, corporate initiatives and issues management Plan, organise and conduct training events, participate in national and international conferences and prepare scientific papers and presentations Leverage the collective advantage across the therapy area and ensure the franchise has a co-ordinated approach externally, e.g. at conferences and during interactions with scientific societies and patient groups Internal Subject Matter Expertise Provide clinical and scientific input into regulatory submissions, clinical overviews, licence variations and core data sheet updates Provide clinical and scientific input into HTA and market access dossiers, clinical guideline consultations and regional formularies Provide clinical and scientific input into assessment and due diligence of business development initiatives Ensure medical support for issues related to supply and distribution, product quality, benefit-risk, market actions and product withdrawals related to portfolio Participate in local, regional and global cross-functional project teams as needed to ensure that ongoing improvements in processes and performance are delivered Represent the UK and UK interests to International and Global teams Medical Governance Ensure compliance of medical team with ABPI Code of Practice and relevant SOPs, regulations and guidelines, including those governing external medical interactions Provide overall advisory support on ABPI Code of Practice to medical colleagues in the development of medical materials and activities Ensure that medical materials and activities reflect the most up to date regulatory labelling and risk management plans, regulatory commitments and PMCPA/inter-company undertakings Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of information on brand strategy, clinical plan, new clinical data, new regulatory and safety information and accurate, balanced and up to date materials to use in medical to medical communications Provide medical/scientific input on clinical trial concepts, research collaboration proposals and other projects within the context of country, regional and global clinical strategies for therapy area Provide oversight of in country non-interventional studies and research collaborations related to portfolio in line with Pfizer SOPs, including any related publications Support the medical grants process to ensure the appropriate governance in line with Pfizer SOPs REQUIRED SKILL SET Qualifications: Doctor, pharmacist or scientist Fluency in business English Experience: Pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs desirable Line management experience desirable Relevant experience in vaccines and infectious diseases desirable, including knowledge of epidemiological research and surveillance methods and evidence generation Fully conversant with the ABPI Code of Practice, relevant regulations and Pfizer policies and procedures Skills & Capabilities: Strong leadership skills and a strategic thinker Proven track record of delivering results with impact Strong communication and influencing skills Ability to prioritize resources in line with medical strategy Team player;
